Whitecliffe Form Gallery / Graduate Exhibition / 27-29th November 2020
Doing something, claiming time.
The presented works make up the outcome of a project that has focused on time spent in Opoututeka, Cox’s Bay.
Starting with the chance discovery, and later custodianship of a small sailing boat in the bay, time spent in Opoututeka has focused on the rhythmic transitions of the intertidal mudflat and the community of people that exist within it.
In this context the maintenance of boats has provided a means of becoming part of the community, while also operating as a catalyst for reflections on being, belonging and potential escape.
