Masters Graduate Exhibition / 27-29th November 2020

Doing something, claiming time.

Whitecliffe Form Gallery, 67 Symonds Street, CBD, Tāmaki Makaurau

Presented works make up the outcome of a Masters of Fine Arts project focused on time spent in Opoututeka (Cox’s Bay), Tāmaki Makaurau.

Originating with a serendipitous encounter, and later custodianship of a small sailing vessel in the bay, time spent in Opoututeka focused on the rhythmic transitions within the intertidal / littoral mudflat and its boating community.

In this context the Sisyphean maintenance of boats provided a means of exploring the process of being and becoming, while simultaneously operating as a catalyst for reflections on belonging to this community and potentials for escape into or out of it.
